Database Administrator

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator to join the Technology team, working in support of our Amazon AWS-based core application running on the LEMP stack.

As the Database Administrator, you will:

• Continuously improve the monitoring, maintenance and performance of our production and non-production RDS instances running MySQL Databases. As a platform managing significant amount of Personally Identifiable Information, Information Security will be a top priority, as well as helping to evolve our platform to manage ever-increasing volumes of data throughput.
• Have an ability to understand how the database structure and load interacts with choosing appropriate tools and cloud components will be key to your role in the fast-growing environment.
• Ultimately, you’ll ensure secure, stable and performant availability of ID-Pal’s RDS instances.

Core Responsibilities:

• Play a lead role in the in the design and development of database systems
• Design, development, performance monitoring & tuning MySQL Databases
• Optimize database systems for performance and reliability
• Administration of the Production and non-production MySQL Databases
• Provide database solutions based on technical documents and business requirements.
• Develop database functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development
• Ensure data integrity and quality in database systems.
• Maintain standard policies for database development activities
• Configuration and management of appropriate AWS monitoring tools
• Providing trend analysis and analytics to the management team
• Problem escalation to the development team
• Access management & User Roles
• Support of project teams in delivering new and enhanced functionality
• Responsible for the implementation & release of database changes

Key Requirements:

• Desirable: 5 years or more experience managing databases
• MySQL Database administration and performance tuning
• Knowledge and experience of ProxySQL, AWS Proxy, (or comparable tool)
• Experience supporting and testing large scale web-based distributed applications in a *nix Environment
• Security-oriented approach to systems architecture
• Strong understanding of GDPR
• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of data analytics and reporting
