A letter from our CEO
Like it or loathe it, you’d have to be living under a rock to have not heard about the World Cup Final on the weekend. It was what soccer pundits referred to as “the best final ever” bringing together two footballing superstars, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé. Apologies to those who don’t follow or like soccer, but anyone who knows me has likely heard me talk about the similarities between a team sport (in this case a football team), and a business.
A good organisational structure can grow a business, and a well-organised football team can win games or trophies. Football is a team sport, for it to work well it is about trusting your teammates, respecting each other, working together, taking the hits, and getting back up again – it is not unlike how any team in a business should function. While all eyes were on a footballing great and an emerging great, winning the final required more than just one star player, it needed not only a team of talent, but teamwork too – everyone pulling in the same direction.
In business, good teamwork can never be underestimated, everyone needs to be hard-working, ambitious, and self-motivated. At different times, different departments, different people are the most important, but it’s the group effort that gets the overall result. No different to soccer, at various stages the hero is the keeper, the striker, the defender with the last-ditch tackle, but overall, it is the collective support given to each other that wins games.
We have a saying in ID-Pal: “everyone empties the dishwasher”, in fact, it is so important to our company culture it is displayed all over the office. Obviously, it’s not about the actual dishwasher, but it’s what it represents.
We welcomed 20 new employees to the ID-Pal team in 2022. Often bringing in new employees can bring its own challenges, but it is something that has felt very seamless (just like our identity verification solution!). The ID-Pal team is a diverse group of strong individuals who collaborate daily to ensure ID-Pal continues to be successful. Henry Ford sums it up perfectly in this quote:
“If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”

As CEO, it is one of my many responsibilities to drive ID-Pal forward and let everyone know how wonderful we are, but as Messi and Mbappé have illustrated sometimes you just need to deliver excellence – and we do that every single day with our platform, thanks to a little thing called “teamwork”.
Finally, I must thank all the ID-Pal team, who continuously put in 110% and are amongst some of the soundest people I know. I hope everyone has a blast doing whatever it is that you enjoy over the break. I’d also like to say a big thank you to our customers, numerous strategic partners, network advisors and vendors.
Join me in raising a glass for a year that was full of challenges, but one that in the midst of global crises still had moments of magic – just like Messi’s fairy tale end to his lifelong dream of winning the World Cup.
